The Kansas City Star’s FYI Book Group – coordinated by the Kansas City Public Library’s book group expert Kaite Stover – returns to tackle The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as part of The Big Read.

A summary of the FYI Book Group’s discussion of this classic novel will be published in the FYI section of The Kansas City Star, along with the name of every FYI Book Group participant. Those interested in joining this book discussion should register with Kaite Stover via email sent to kaitestover@kclibrary.org.

The FYI Book Group is a semi-monthly book discussion group presented by the Kansas City Public Library in partnership with The Kansas City Star.

The Big Read commandeers the Library’s Facebook page for a weeklong effort that puts readers in direct communication with expert librarians who will guide booklovers to their next big reading adventure with a personalized reading recommendation!

Visit the Library’s Facebook page and respond to any one question posted there about your experience reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, such as your favorite scene or your take on the most influential character in Tom’s life. Based on your comments, our expert librarians will suggest a book ideally suited just for you.

Librarians are standing by, Monday (October 17) through Sunday (October 23).

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to restore reading to the center of American culture by encouraging reading for pleasure and enlightenment. Help sustain the momentum of this Big Read by giving the Library’s expert team of librarian-advisors a chance to recommend your next favorite book!
