The Big Read Dial-A-Story: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The Kansas City Public Library’s Dial-A-Story service features venerable Kansas City Star columnist Charles Gusewelle reading the classic fence painting scene from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Dial-A-Story offers story time anytime: folktales, fairy tales, and children’s literature come alive with a phone call, any time of the day or night and all year long. Suitable for children ages three and up, Dial-A-Story features a rotating cast of librarians and professional storytellers as well as friends and neighbors – all sharing their favorite stories.
Charles Gusewelle joined The Kansas City Star in 1955. His writing has earned numerous journalism awards, in addition to a Pushcart Prize and the Aga Khan Prize for Fiction. He is the author of 12 books and has been inducted into the Writers Hall of Fame of America.
