Black Classics is devoted to reading and discussing works written by African or African American authors that can be considered great classics—these include outstanding works of fiction, poetry, drama and non-fiction. Come and discuss some of the great works you may not have read in school.

Group Leader
Bernard Norcott-Mahany is a technical assistant at the L.H. Bluford Branch, where he also serves as the Library's resident connoisseur of classic literature. He holds master's degrees in Ancient Greek from Loyola University Chicago and in English Literature from Syracuse University. He teaches Greek mythology at Johnson County Community College.
