Overdrive vs. NetLibrary
Hello,
I liked the audio/e-book library you had before Overdrive, I believe it was called NetLibrary. NetLibrary was easier to use. Searching for books was easier and it had the complete sets of different book series. I have yet to find a complete set of a series I'm looking for in OverDrive for MP3 players. Also, I don't remember having to wait to download a book from NetLibrary. As a matter of fact, that doesn't even make sense to me, why would you have to wait to download an electronic medium? It's not like patrons actually turn in a physical product to re-issue to another patron...?
Anyway, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy downloading books to my MP3 player--I can always find something to listen to. They've gotten me through plenty of workouts and roadtrips.
Thanks for letting us comment. If you have any questions or need more information, please let me know. Thanks Debbie.
Staff Response:
Here is a response from Terry Anderson, Director of Collection Management:
NetLibrary was purchased by EBSCO approximately a year ago. It took a while for them to get the records changed over, but they are now available through our database page on the Library’s website. You will find them listed under EBSCO eAudiobooks Collection and EBSCO eBook Collection. NetLibrary did not allow patrons to place a hold on a title and so there was no “wait” line. The licensing agreements only allow one person at a time to use any item, thus if someone has it checked out, the next person has to wait for their turn.
If you are not seeing titles you want to use, you can request we purchase the title by using our suggestion for purchase form located on our website.
Thank you for your comments and we will keep them in mind while we continue to build our collections of electronic resources.
