The Missouri Valley Special Collections Department of the Kansas City Public Library presents the new, original exhibit Keys to the City: The Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps of Kansas City, Missouri, 1895-1957, opening Friday, September 4, at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

Color in Freedom, an exhibit by Joseph Holston, is on display June 5 – August 1, 2010, at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

Color in Freedom features 49 paintings, representing his interpretation of the Underground Railroad and the journey hundreds of people living in slavery took to gain their freedom in the North.

Jay and Leslie Cady of Laughing Matters combine wild and wacky juggling, stories, and
humor with a look at the water cycle and the role of water in nature. The earth is
mostly made of water, and we must take care of it. But not all is as it should be—
something’s fishy!

Do you like Poetry? OR Do you write Poetry? Well here is your chance to meet with other people who do to. Join us every 2nd Wednesday of the month to share those that you have written or your favorite poems. Open to all ages.

Visit us at the Sugar Creek Library each Wednesday at 4:30pm for a new activity! Join us as we explore the world of water, animals, and reading. A short story followed by a craft/activity will be presented each week, inspired by the Summer Reading Program theme "Make a Splash!"
