45 Years Across the Bridge: The Battles of Selma, Alabama

Filmmakers and Kansas City natives Michael Herzmark and Melissa Wayne present 45 Years Across the Bridge: The Battle of Selma, Alabama, a one hour documentary that frames the story of modern-day Selma as a microcosm of the issues facing much of America today.
Following the documentary, a town hall meeting including area experts from the fields of business, politics, education, journalism, religion, sports, and the arts outline and highlight some of the challenges Kansas City faces in economics, education, race, and culture. Participants in the town hall include U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II; Kauffman Foundation Vice President of Education Munro Richardson; Kansas City, Missouri, School Superintendent John Covington; Kansas City, Missouri 5th Distrct City Councilman Michael Brooks; Kansas City Transportation Group CEO Bill George; Boulevard Brewery founder John McDonald; and Dolphin Gallery owner John O’Brien.
KPRT 1590 AM radio host and educator Carl Boyd will moderate the discussion.
