Catherynne M. Valente - The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There
All Library locations will be closed on Monday, July 4, for Independence Day.
Catherynne M. Valente’s 2011 book for young adults, the New York Times best seller The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, was a fantasy embraced both by children and adults.
Now Valente introduces her just-published followup volume, The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There.
The evening includes a book signing. This event is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Like the first book, this sequel follows September, a 12-year-old from Omaha, who is swept into a magical existence ruled by the unpredictable and fickle Marquess. The series has been compared to Alice in Wonderland and The Golden Compass.
Among Valente’s books are The Orphan's Tales and Palimpsest. She has won the Andre Norton Award, the Mythopoeic Award, and the Million Writers Award for best web fiction.
Co-sponsored by the Reading Reptile.
