Deanell Reece Tacha: Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area

The Kansas City Public Library welcomes U.S. Appellate Judge Deanell Reece Tacha for a discussion of the Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area on Sunday, November 14, at 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

The Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area is a new entity that will illuminate nationally significant stories about the struggle over freedom on the Missouri-Kansas border from John Brown to Brown v. Board of Education. The FFNHA includes 41 counties in western Missouri and eastern Kansas.

As chair of the FFNHA, Tacha will explain how a group of residents passionate about preserving local history created the National Heritage Area, how the management plan was developed, and how it will be implemented. Tacha will also discuss the concept of freedom before and during the Civil War and introduce a 12-minute film about FFNHA.

Admission is free. A 1:30 p.m. reception precedes the event. Call 816.701.3407 or RSVP online.
