Fifth District Congressional Art Competition
All Library locations will be closed on Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
The Kansas City Public Library hosts the annual Fifth District Congressional Student Art Competition with U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife Dianne Cleaver on Saturday, April 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
The Cleavers will recognize all participating student artists and name the top five submissions, including the grand prize winner.
All art entries will be on display at the Central Library with a large number remaining on view through April 30. The grand prize-winning entry will be shipped to Washington, D.C., for display in the Cannon Tunnel of the United States Capitol, along with other winning pieces from similar congressional contests.
The Fifth District art competition is open to high school students residing within the district’s boundaries. Entries are reviewed by an independent panel of judges.
