Getting Back to Better, is a six-week series geared toward teaching patrons with chronic conditions how to live a better life.

The class subjects, taught by professionals from Truman Medical Centers, cover a wide variety of topics, including techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation; appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance; appropriate use of medications; communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals; nutrition; and evaluating new treatments.

Each participant in the workshop receives a copy of the companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 3rd Edition.

Getting Back to Better is part of a partnership between the Kansas City Public Library and Truman Medical Centers to help Kansas City metro area residents better understand health and wellness.
