John M. R. Stone

The Kansas City Public Library hosts Dr. John M.R. Stone for a public dialogue about the climate change on Friday, October 24, at 3:30 p.m. in the Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

During a presentation called Challenges and Opportunities of Climate Change, Stone will discuss his work on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore for alerting the world to the dangers and challenges posed by climate change.

Stone has represented Canada on the IPCC since 1997: first as a chair of Working Group I, which studies and communicates the science of climate change; and most recently as vice-chair of Working Group II, which grapples with how societies will have to adapt to climate change.

Admission is free. Click here or call 816.701.3407 to RSVP. Free parking is also available.

This event is sponsored by the United Nations Association of Greater Kansas City, the Harry S. Truman Library, the Harry S. Truman Center for Governmental Affairs at UMKC, the American Meteorological Society, and the Kansas City Public Library.
