John T. Fleming III: HBCU Today

John T. Fleming III, executive vice president of Black Educational Events, discusses the state of historically black colleges and universities on Thursday, August 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch 4801 Main St.

Black Educational Events publishes HBCU Today: Your Comprehensive Guide to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, a book containing detailed profiles, full-color campus photos, and contact information for 104 historically black colleges and universities.

It also includes articles on the history and relevance of the institutions; scholarship resources; overviews of notable programs such as Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism and Howard University’s School of Divinity; and full-color reproductions of artwork from The Kinsey Collection, one of the largest collections of African-American art.

Fleming is responsible for communications as well as community and public relations for Black Educational Events. He received his undergraduate degree in communications from Hampton University.

Copies of HBCU Today will be available for sale, and Fleming will sign copies purchased during the event.
