Jonathan Bender: Lego, A Love Story

Jonathan Bender discusses his new book Lego: A Love Story, chronicling his time spent researching the colorful and creative world of Legos, on Thursday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library 14 W. 10th St.

For every person in the world, there are 62 Lego bricks. At age 30, Jonathan Bender realized he didn’t have a single one and set out to relive his childhood dream of becoming a Master Model Builder.

In the process, he discovered the people who are skewing the averages with collections of thousands of Legos and heard the stories of young and old Lego fans about what makes them so hard for everyone to put down.

When Bender and his wife embark on an accompanying quest to bring a child into the world, Lego: A Love Story ultimately becomes about what it takes to build a family.

Copies of Lego: A Love Story will be available for sale, and Bender will sign copies purchased during the event.

Admission is free. A 6 p.m. reception precedes the event. Click here or call 816.701.3407 to RSVP. Free parking is available in the Library District parking garage at 10th & Baltimore.
