All Library locations will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.
Award-winning young adult author Justine Larbalestier will discuss her latest book, How To Ditch Your Fairy, on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.
On the heels of her acclaimed Magic or Madness trilogy, the Australian writer is back with a story of fairies, friendships, and understanding how to make your own magic. At New Avalon Sports High, everyone has a personal fairy. For Charlie, a 14-year-old girl, having a Parking Fairy is worse than no fairy – especially when the school bully carts her around like a personal parking pass. But when Charlie decides to team up with her arch enemy Fiorenza, who owns an All-the-Boys-You-Like Fairy, and gets what her heart desires, she figures out it’s not what it’s cracked up to be and takes extraordinary measures to ditch her fairy.
Copies of Larbalestier’s books will be available for sale, and the author will sign copies purchased during the event.
The event is co-sponsored by Reading Reptile. Admission is free. Click here or call 816.701.3407 to indicate your interest in attending.
