Local, Global & In Between: A Conversation on Art

Crosby Kemper III and Saralyn Reece Hardy lead a conversation with peripatetic Romanian artists Dan and Lia Perjovschi.

Dan Perjovschi is an artist-in-residence at the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, Kan. He uses permanent black markers to draw cartoon-like sketches that push public speech and extract visual imagery from contemporary narratives, texts, and situations. The nomadic lifestyle that he has adopted has allowed him to participate in projects across the globe, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Venice Biennale, and the Institute for Contemporary Culture.

Lia Perjovschi works in a variety of mediums, including performance, installation, and process art. She is the founder of the Archive and Center for Arts Analysis. Her work has been hosted by the Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou, and the Cabaret Voltaire Zurich.

Crosby Kemper III is the director of the Kansas City Public Library.

Saralyn Reece Hardy is the director of the Spencer Art Museum, which is a co-sponsor of this event.
