On Friday, January 23, at 7 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St., Mad Science of Kansas City will present the first in a three-part, monthly series of programs geared to spark imaginative learning through unique, engaging, and educational activities.

The opening program is titled Up, Up, and Away, a presentation featuring hot air balloons, fireballs from candles, and the Mad Science floating hovercraft. The program aims to teach the powers of air and air pressure.

In February, Mad Science will present The Fire and Ice Show, a program that focuses on chemical reactions. In March, Marvels in Motion explores the science of sports and  Newton’s Laws of Motion.
