Mariko Nagai - Georgic: Stories

Award-winning author Mariko Nagai shares the sources of inspiration for her new book, Georgic: Stories, including Japanese folk tales and history.

Like Virgil’s poem Georgics, her collection of short stories juxtaposes the beauty of rural life against its cruelty.  Born in Tokyo and raised also in Europe and America, Nagai teaches creative writing and literature at Temple University’s Japan Campus in Tokyo.

A 6 p.m. reception precedes the presentation. Admission is free.

Co-sponsored by BkMk Press at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Heart of America Japan-America Society.
