Matthew Bishop - The Road From Ruin: How to Revive Capitalism and Put America Back on Top

This event has been cancelled due to European travel delays.
Due to the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano that has impeded travel arrangements worldwide, author Matthew Bishop, the United States business editor for The Economist, has been detained in London, England, and will be unable to present his book, The Road From Ruin, on April 20, 2010 at the Central Library. No makeup date has been announced, but the Library hopes to reschedule this event. Log on to kclibrary.org for updates on Bishop’s new presentation date. Bishop, whose presentation was co-sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, was set to discuss his thoughts on the economy and the future of capitalism. Bishop says the world should learn from past financial crisis – the Tulip Craze of the 17th century, and the Great Depression of the 1930s, among others – to map the way to a reformed 21st century capitalism.
