Peter Mansoor: Baghdad at Sunrise

Colonel (retired) Peter Mansoor discusses his new book Baghdad at Sunrise: A Brigade Commander’s War in Iraq on Thursday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

Baghdad at Sunrise tells the story of a U.S. brigade in Baghdad from 2004 to 2005. Publishers Weekly says Mansoor’s account is “balanced, perceptive, and merciless.”

Mansoor is currently the General Raymond Mason Chair of Military History at Ohio State University. He served as executive officer to Commanding General David H. Petraeus in 2007-08 and was a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Strategy Group that proposed the 2007 surge in Iraq. He was also commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, in Baghdad during 2003-04.

Copies of Baghdad at Sunrise will be available for sale, and the author will sign copies purchased during the event.

A 6 p.m. reception precedes the event. Free parking is available in the Library District Parking Garage at 10th and Baltimore.
