Ted Kooser

Former United States Poet Laureate Ted Kooser will keynote the Missouri Poetry Society’s Convention with a presentation on Friday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Kooser, one of the nation’s most highly regarded poets, has won numerous awards for his work including the Stanley Kunitz Poetry Prize and Pushcart Prize. Most notably, he won a Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for his book of poems, Delights & Shadows. With a writing style known for its clarity, precision, and accessibility, Kooser has authored 12 full-length collections of poetry with his works having appeared in periodicals including The Atlantic Monthly, The New Yorker, Poetry, The Hudson Review, The Nation, and The American Poetry Review. He served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 2004-2006 and is a Presidential Professor of English at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
