He shaped Martin Luther King Jr., brought Gandhi’s teachings to the American Civil Rights movement and organized the historic 1963 March on Washington. Bayard Rustin fought for peace, racial equality and economic justice. He was the principal organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, DC.
