Cheryl McCann, author of historical cookbook Stirring Up History: The Meals, Memoirs, and Memories of Our Ladies of Clay County, will visit Westport Library to discuss her journey as an author and researcher.
The book is a recreation of the 1880 and 1903 Economy Cook Books compiled by the Presbyterian Ladies of Liberty, MO. Unlike the original editions, it has some additional information: Biographies of the women behind the recipes. Cheryl McCann dove into the Clay County Archives to find details about these early American ladies, who were originally identified only by their husbands' names. The result is a magnificent, immersive adventure in old-fashioned cooking.
No RSVP is required for this event. Books will be available for purchase.
We will meet on the 3rd Floor in the Kauffman Grand Reading Room.
Sessions will be held on:
Participants can attend one session or as many as they would like.
