A new exhibit based on the Kansas City Star Magazine series and book by Steve Paul. It features 22-by-28-inch reproductions of pages from the book, which celebrates Kansas City’s architectural scene one letter at a time.
This exhibit is on display in the Fifth Floor Exhibit Space.

Windows and Mirrors: Reflections on the War in Afghanistan features panels created by international artists and American students to help viewers imagine the experience of Afghan civilians – from death and destruction to hope for peace.

Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War is a new exhibit focusing on President Abraham Lincoln’s struggle to meet the political and constitutional challenges of the Civil War. It explores how Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises – the secession of Southern states, slavery, and wartime civil liberties.
Presented by the American Library Association and funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to the National Constitution Center.

Green Exposures is a collection of photographs shot in Kansas City’s parks and featuring among others Nikita the polar bear, ethnic dancers, Gillham Park shrouded in mist, and the Pioneer Mother.
Co-sponsored by Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department, the exhibit is the result of a year-long contest. Categories include: landmarks, monuments and fountains; activities and events; as well as nature and wildlife. The exhibit is on display until February 2, 2012.

The newest exhibition of the Orval Hixon Gallery, New Compositions: The Dance Portraiture of Orval Hixon, is on display from June 11, 2011 through 2013 at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. The exhibit features a rich selection of Hixon’s portraits, including images of some of the best-known dancers of his time.
