Frankenstein had the right idea when he pieced together his old school zombie monster. Sew up your own frightening mini zombie friends.

The newest exhibition of the Orval Hixon Gallery, New Compositions: The Dance Portraiture of Orval Hixon, is on display from June 11, 2011 through 2013 at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. The exhibit features a rich selection of Hixon’s portraits, including images of some of the best-known dancers of his time.

Have you ever wanted to try yoga? Come to Westport Branch to learn basic yoga in a relaxing environment with an experienced instructor. This class is good for both beginners and experienced learners. The class is free but registration is required.

Gov. Jay Nixon today signed House Bill 1659 which allows Kansas City to create a land bank for the purpose of acquiring, rehabilitating, and reselling abandoned and blighted properties. The Governor went to the Lucile H. Bluford Branch Library in Kansas City to sign the bill.

Teen Gaming has a Wii console, a PlayStation2 and a XBOX 360 plus an array of board games for you to enjoy. A chess board is always available for some great competitive games. Bring your own video games and share the joy of playing with all your mates.

Attention all fans of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid! We will have a book club at the North-East Library on Mondays in July where we will chat about the book, play games, and create our own Wimpy Journals. Kids 8-12 years old are welcome to attend and will receive a free copy of the book.

It's a great time to come to Westport Library and learn how to quilt during the hot July weather. The basics are covered and some fabric is available to make a colorful quilt. Also, if you have a quilt already started, feel free to come to the library and finish the quilt.

Youtube director Stellabelle will be teaching a class about the power of Youtube and your place within this dynamic world. During the class, you will take a personal inventory and learn how to create videos for YouTube that explore your authentic self, solve problems or highlight issues in your community or society at large. By going through the stages of self-discovery, you will come to a greater understanding
of your role in your community, your world and then learn how to document these discoveries via the creation of a Youtube channel.

Teen crafts are back! All supplies and materials provided free of charge by the library.

To complement the exhibit Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James Bible, let’s all don our Sunday best (metaphorically speaking) for this series of films based on Bible stories. Faith and spectacle...it’s a potent combination.
