The newest exhibition of the Orval Hixon Gallery, New Compositions: The Dance Portraiture of Orval Hixon, is on display from June 11, 2011 through 2013 at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. The exhibit features a rich selection of Hixon’s portraits, including images of some of the best-known dancers of his time.

To most local landscape architects, Hare & Hare is a household name. The firm has left an indelible mark on some of the most iconic and often-visited areas of Kansas City—the Country Club Plaza, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Loose Park, Ward Parkway, and Mission Hills among them.

The Paul Mesner Puppets, presents original stories, contemporary children's literature, fairy tales and folk tales for audiences of all ages. Based in Kansas City and touring nationally, PMP performances are seen by over 100,000 children and adults each year.

Paul Mesner Puppets tells this tale of Little Red Riding Hood with a contemporary flavor. When Little Red finds the wolf disguised in her Grandmother’s clothes, she uses her self-defense moves to teach him a lesson he won’t soon forget.

Preschool age kids (3-5) will enjoy stories, songs, and art in this storytime.

City Market watering hole Harry’s Country Club has joined forces with the Library to bring rock ‘n’ roll movies to the summer Off-the-Wall film series. Entitled Procreation, Pharmaceuticals, and Backbeat-Driven/Blues-Based Music (think about it), this series dishes comedy, a dash of drama, and a whole lot of toe-tapping, head-bobbing (if not head-banging) music.
