Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) didn’t just design a house. He saw each building as a fully integrated whole and painstakingly designed stained glass windows, furniture, carpeting, and even lighting fixtures to reflect his concept. This exhibit employs high-quality reproductions of Wright’s drawings of interiors, furnishings, and household objects.

Celebrate Kansas City’s All-Star summer with this new exhibit exploring our local baseball heritage.

The newest exhibition of the Orval Hixon Gallery, New Compositions: The Dance Portraiture of Orval Hixon, is on display from June 11, 2011 through 2013 at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. The exhibit features a rich selection of Hixon’s portraits, including images of some of the best-known dancers of his time.

Peabody Award-winning radio personality Michael Lasser explores the songs inspired by our town, from “Everything’s Up To Date in Kansas City” to the rock classic “Kansas City” with its “pretty little women,” a tune recorded by artists as varied as the Beatles and Trini Lopez.

Lasser has been called “a walking encyclopedia of American song” and is the author of America’s Songs: The Stories Behind the Songs of Broadway, Hollywood, and Tin Pan Alley.

He hosts the weekly syndicated radio show Fascinatin’ Rhythm.

Children and parents are invited to be part of monthly interactive story times presented by the Coterie Theatre. Coterie Theatre artists read from favorite children's books while audience members enjoy an opportunity to "jump into the story" and then participate in an improvised story of their own making.
