Glen Hansen specializes in art inspired by the architecture of cities like Paris, Prague, and Venice. Now he turns his pencils and brushes on Kansas City for a show featuring over 30 drawings and a half-dozen paintings of local buildings and their architectural and decorative details.

Hixon transformed the field of portrait photography in Kansas City and the surrounding region during a career that spanned more than seven decades. His studios—the first in the Brady Building at 11th and Main Streets, and the second just one block west in the Baltimore Hotel—welcomed thousands of patrons throughout the 1910s and 1920s.

In this comic poem, written in 1805, Old Mother Hubbard is always looking out for her best friend, and in return he is dancing and spinning and sitting and standing all to the delight of Old Mother Hubbard. In a quaint old cottage, the comedy of a dog and his master opens and unfolds to delight and captivate the story of this good old lady and her funny dog.

As childhood best friends, Joe and Justin were always exploring the outdoors. Now, as The Okee Dokee Brothers, they have put this passion for nature at the heart of their Americana Folk music. The two-time Parents' Choice Award winners have garnered praised from the likes of NPR's All Things Considered and USA Today, and recently won a Grammy for Best Children's Music Album. By appealing to the musical needs of the entire family and recognizing that kids deserve quality music, The Okee Dokee Brothers are working full-time to advance the family music genre.

Oh My Teen discusses Straw House Wood House Brick House Blow, a collection of four short stories all composed on an iPhone by Daniel Nayeri. Following the discussion there will be a question and answer session with the author via text. Oh My Teen book group is a program for teens that meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Trails West branch library. Copies are available for checkout at the branch library.

Programs and a traveling exhibit from the Metropolitan Community College’s Business and Technology Campus explore how to land in-demand “gold collar” jobs – electric utility lineman, computer-controlled machine programmer, welder/fabricator, environmental engineering technician – with just an associate’s degree or less.

The programs – 10 Gold Collar Jobs in KC and 10 Things that Get You Hired and 10 Things that Get You Fired – will be presented throughout the summer and fall at several Library locations.
