Let us be your guide into the exciting high fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. We wish to introduce new and experienced players to the pen and paper role-playing games, show them how to get the most out of this hobby and meet local players.

What You'll Be Doing/Learning:

  • The rules of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.
  • Build fantastical characters.
  • Work within a group to defeat monsters and clear dungeons.
  • Run your own games as a Dungeon Master.
  • Apply basic painting techniques to character miniatures.

’Tis the season for plotting glorious summer vacations that, alas, don’t go quite so gloriously. The Library screens four films in June in which the warm-weather fun is undone by neurosis, nature, or enduring ineptitude.

Eight players at a time will compete to be the reigning smash champion on the big screen. Players of all skill levels are invited to participate. We will also feature 2D craft stations, engaging technology, and teens can make pennants to root for their favorite character. This event is a part of the Mayor's Nights summer event series.

The entire family can enjoy a celebratory afternoon of special, Shakespeare-centric activities. Learn the basics of stage combat. Make a trebuchet (a catapault) suitable for launching pom-poms or ping pong balls at a Shakespearean target. Or do some Mad Libbing. First Folio Family Fun also features poetry readings, soliloquies, short scene enactments, and Shakespeare on the screen in the Stanley H. Durwood Film Vault.
