Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Jack Skellington – the Pumpkin King – longs to spread the joy of Christmas. But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere.

Film critics regard 1939 as the greatest year in Hollywood history, when more memorable movies were released than at any other time. Throughout 2014, the Kansas City Public Library recreates the movie going experience enjoyed by audiences 75 years earlier. Each week, the free series Hollywood’s Greatest Year will present a movie from 1939.

Bring gently used clothing, coats, hats, and gloves to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City and to earn points for your house! Dress as your favorite Harry Potter character and help your team win the House Cup! We will have games, refreshments, a costume contest, and more!

The library is always peaceful and quiet until one night when some squirrels, a wolf, and a tortoise stir up a little trouble. Luckily, the little librarian knows just how to turn a little trouble into a lot of fun.

Learn sewing, machine safety, troubleshooting, and how to sew in a straight line. The basics of seams, stitches and bobbins will also be included. Finally, get your hands on a real pattern to learn symbols, cutting instructions and lots more.
The class is four weeks long and Sign up is required. Ages 12-18 Only!
