Computers are everywhere, yet only one in 10 schools offers computer programming classes. Youth can get a taste here, joining in an encore session of Hour of Code events. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Wi-Fi-enabled devices, though Library devices are available to share. Recommended for ages 5 and older.

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) literacy program uses therapy animals to improve children's reading and communication skills. Join the R.E.A.D. team at the Waldo Branch the second Saturday each month between February 2015 and April 2015 as children read the pooches some prose. Children may sign up for a 10-minute slot each Saturday. Parents must sign a release form before children will be allowed to read with one of the dogs.

The Library’s Winter Reading Program, this year featuring the theme Love on the Rocks, begins January 20, 2015, and continues through March 20, 2015. Pick up your Winter Reading booklet at your favorite Library location and be sure to check out these films about love gone wrong. This month’s focus: I Love You, I Hate You, Get Lost.
