King Creole (1958)
Acting was no mere sidelight for Elvis Presley, who fancied himself the next Brando or Dean and starred in 31 scripted films. While mostly relegated to musical vehicles, he acquitted himself well as both singer and actor in several of them.
Forty years after his untimely death in August 1977, the Library screens three of the King’s most critically acclaimed movies and a well-received documentary chronicling his 1970 return to live performance in Las Vegas.
