Under the supervision of the ITS Director, the IT Support Specialist will provide a variety of technical tasks in the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and installation of computers and related equipment. Job duties will include updating ITS support calls in tracking system, providing Tier 1 support to end users for both software and hardware, troubleshooting desktop and laptop computer problems and performing or coordinating repairs as appropriate, performing IMAC’s, recommending systems modifications to reduce incidents and problems, performing EOL activities, and participating with other department staff in development and implementation of IT Department projects. Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree in information technology-related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-3 years experience in a related field with a working knowledge of computers, networking, Windows 2000/XP, MS Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, VPN, web applications, time management, and troubleshooting skills, A+ certification preferred, must have valid driver’s license and immediate availability of car during scheduled hours. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with partnering and mentoring capabilities; outstanding customer service skills; experience with Windows, Office, Outlook, and other desktop software applications including installation and user set up; excellent and demonstrable troubleshooting and problem resolution skills; operational understanding of IP-based networking technologies; organization and time management skills; broad knowledge across IT disciplines; experience writing user friendly documentation. Must be self-motivated, an independent worker and a strong team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks and ability to learn new skills and systems quickly. Full time, Salary: DOQ, starting at $37,727, plus excellent benefits. Position open until filled. A Kansas City Public Library application is required.
