The Kansas City Public Library seeks a systems administrator for its Information Systems team. The position supports the IT infrastructure comprised of 250 staff computers, 450 Public Access Computers, and 50 Virtual Machines through an Active Directory 2008 domain. The position, reporting to the Director of Information Systems, collaborates with the IS team to keep critical technology systems running and optimized. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with an interest in implementing, advising on, and maintaining niche, library-world technologies, while also supporting the Library's mission to provide equity of digital access throughout the library district. The Library seeks advanced problem solvers who are interested in evaluating the status quo and building structures for emerging technologies.
Essential functions include but not limited to: evaluating current systems and approaches as part of advising on the Library's technology vision for the future; implementing security best practices across network and application systems; troubleshooting and resolving system issues; monitoring overall system performance; ensuring backup of system configurations and data; designing systems for optimal performance; working with Library vendors; developing support requirements and leverage to the appropriate level in the organizations; and documenting system design and configurations.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in information technology-related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5-7 years of experience in a related role. Able to lift 50 pounds and have vehicle access during the business day. Preferred candidates will have PowerShell / scripting experience, knowledgeable with Azure, Office 365, and Library and/or public sector IT experience
This is a full-time exempt position with some evenings and weekends required. Starting salary $55,000.00 DOQ plus excellent benefits. This position is open until filled. The Library is an equal Opportunity Employer.
