Frank and Jesse James Court Documents from Daviess County
From the Missouri State Archives, these papers of the Daviess County Circuit Clerk reveal many of the James brothers’ activities during the late nineteenth century and include several indictments showing criminal charges ranging from grand larceny to murder. These records also provide a glimpse into the life of other prominent Missourians of the time, such as Confederate Brigadier General Joseph Shelby.

The 71-volume compilation of official records of the Union and Confederate armies was published between 1880 and 1901 as War of the Rebellion. Each page is a scanned image (i.e., not searchable text), but each volume includes an index and the site also includes links to external indexes to and synopses of the series.
