Adlers

If you look at the top of the building above the window you can see what appears to be part of the letter A.

This photo

I remember very distinctly as a child, this view of the store window. I believe that is Main Street at the closest cross street being Pettycoat Lane. I agree with the comment that it was probably Adlers on Main, on the East side of the street with southbound traffic.

Re: This photo

If it were on the East side of Main near Petticoat, the sidewalk would slope to the left, not the right.

Late 40s

The long, full dresses and the manikins' hairstyles suggest late 1940s -- probably about 1948.

Late 40s

Skirts got longer after the war. What year did the hem lines go down?

Montogomery Foto

Note the "Montgomery Foto, KC." Store is almost definitely in Kansas City, then.

National Wine Week was in October beginning in 1939.

window display

Since the picture shows and inclined sidewalk it appears that this street is 9th or 10th street, going east, probably between Main and Grand. I don't recognize the architectural ornament above the window but it could be on the south side of one of those streets. The fashions appear to be the late 40s or early 50s.
