We Were Soldiers
Mel Gibson stars in this movie from book, ("We Were Soldiers Once--and Young" by Harold G. Moore and Joseph L. Galloway), introducing a new tactic in fighting the war: dropping soldiers into battle zones via helicopters. In a raging battle at Ia Drang in 1965, Mel Gibson commands a company of soldiers against superior numbers of Vietcong. The action sequences are very intense and realistic, and along with strong language made it R rated. Come prepared for a historical portrayal about this game changing tactic in the Vietnam War and the soldiers who fought against all odds. Shown in conjunction with The Big Read.
