She has also served as The Star’s Readers’ Representative as well as a business columnist, political reporter, special projects reporter, City Hall bureau chief, and Missouri Legislative correspondent. She has also worked for the Associated Press and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She is secretary-treasurer of the National Conference of Editorial Writers, president of the Kansas City Press Club Foundation, and a two-time Pulitzer juror. She is married and the mother of two adult children.
