On Thursday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie will give a major address on the progress of his latest work, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. A 6 p.m. reception precedes the discussion.
A force in architecture for several decades, Safdie's major cultural and educational commissions in America include the United States Institute of Peace Headquarters on the Mall in Washington, D.C., the Skirball Museum and Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA, and Exploration Place in Wichita, KS. In addition, Safdie was responsible for educational facilities including the Eleanor Roosevelt College at the University of California in San Diego and civic buildings such as the Federal Courthouses of Springfield, MA, and Mobile, AL. Safdie’s work also includes terminal designs for Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto and Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.
