September 30, 2011
American Library Association President Molly Raphael explains how libraries are employing creative approaches to current social and economic conditions in order to position themselves to best serve their communities on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
How can libraries be positioned not just to survive but to thrive? What difficult choices will have to be made in the next few years so that patrons continue to value the services libraries provide? How can libraries ensure that they are seen as both essential for learning and for life in the communities they serve?
Raphael answers those questions and more in a presentation titled Libraries: Essential for Learning, Essential for Life.
The event is being held in association with the 2011 annual conference of the Missouri Library Association.
Admission is free. A 6 p.m. reception precedes the event. RSVP online or call 816.701.3407. Free parking is available at the Library District Parking Garage at 10th & Baltimore.
