Friday Night Family Fun Presents A Visit with a Civil War Undertaker

p>The Kansas City Public Library continues to recognize the Civil War Sesquicentennial with a very spooky program about a Civil War Undertaker on Friday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Funerals were very different back during the Civil War era. Children can meet and visit with a 1860s-era Civil War undertaker portrayed by local actor Lee Ward and learn some of the "proper" mourning customs.

Ward's presentation is geared toward children ages 7 and up and includes several genuine artifacts such as an actual Civil War-era coffin.

After the presentation children will get to create their own Victorian Halloween crafts. Materials will be provided.

Co-sponsored by the John Wornall House.

Admission is free. RSVP online or call 816.701.3407.
