Kansas City and Mid-Continent Public Libraries to Host Spelling Bee

The Kansas City Public Library, in partnership with the Mid-Continent Public Library and the Local Investment Commission (LINC), will host the 2012 Jackson County Spelling Bee in March 2012. The winner will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
In order to participate, schools must enroll with the Scripps National Spelling Bee at spellingbee.com by December 16, 2011. For more information about the 2012 Jackson County Spelling Bee, contact Mary Olive Thompson at 816.701.3689.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation's largest and longing-running educational program. Its purpose is to help students improve spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage.
The Jackson County Spelling Bee will feature three competitions held at Kansas City Public Library and Mid-Continent Public Library locations. Times, dates, and locations are as follows:
