Kathy Kelly presents Courage for Peace: Perspectives from Afghanistan at The Kansas City Public Library
All Library locations will be closed on Monday, February 15 in observance of Presidents' Day.
December 5, 2011
Kathy Kelly, co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, discusses her four trips to Afghanistan since 2010 and explains what she learned about the conditions faced by ordinary people in a country afflicted by three decades of warfare.
Kelly's talk, Courage for Peace: Perspectives from Afghanistan, takes place Sunday, December 11, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
The talk complements Windows and Mirrors: Reflections on the War in Afghanistan, an exhibit featuring panels created by international artists and American students to help viewers imagine the experiences of Afghan civilians. The exhibit remains on display through December 31, 2011, at the Central Library.
Admission to the event is free. RSVP online or call 816.701.3407.
Major funding for programs at the Kansas City Public Library is provided by a generous grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
