The Kansas City Public Library has received two Spotlight on Literacy grants to conduct book groups with students at Central and East high schools.
The Book Groups are a collaboration between the school media centers and Kansas City Public Library's L. H. Bluford Branch at 3030 Prospect Avenue. The goal is to help improve students' progress in communication arts.
The book groups will meet monthly and serve students in grades 7-12.
The Library received two of the four competitively awarded Spotlight on Literacy grants given to libraries in Missouri.
This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
