Kansas City teens can have a voice in the development of a new digital media lab being developed by the Kansas City Public Library and Science City with a grant from the MacArthur Foundation and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
The Digital Media Teen Summit takes place on Saturday, August 25, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Science City in Union Station.
While at the summit teens will participate in activities and mini-workshops designed to get feedback on the new media lab and will be introduced to a variety of digital media. There will be hands-on presentations in website development, game design, 2D animation, and 3D storytelling.
In addition, summit participants will be invited to provide feedback on the four locations being considered for the lab.
The summit is open to Kansas City residents between the ages of 14 and 18. Participants may sign up through the teen librarian at any branch of the Kansas City Public Library or by contacting Andrea Ellis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 816.701.3733. Signed parental permission forms will be required. Seats are limited.
