Mira Bartok Offers Common-Sense Wisdom On How to Get Your Book Published
October 21, 2013
Just ask any established or aspiring author: The creative challenges of writing a book are at least matched by the difficulty of shepherding it to publication.
Bestselling author Mira Bartok (The Memory Palace) offers a common-sense guide to navigating the world of publishing in I Wrote a Book, Now What? on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
Bartok discusses the publishing process - from working with a small press to publishing a bestseller. Topics include:
- How to know where your book fits into the publishing world, and how to find an agent.
- What happens once you have a publisher, and what the editorial process is like.
- How to use social media and maximize publicity.
Bartok's The Memory Palace was a New York Times bestselling memoir and winner of the 2011 National Book Critics Circle Award for Autobiography. She has published several children's books and founded the arts blog Mira's List (miraslist.com) to offer advice on publishing opportunities and help writers locate and apply for fellowships, grants, and residencies.
