Power of Reading Celebrates Local Authors and New Readers

p>The Kansas City Public Library hosts the third annual Power of Reading celebration of Kansas City authors and new adult readers sharing inspired stories about the role reading plays in their lives on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.
KCTV 5 co-anchor Carolyn Long hosts an evening that includes personal essays from writers Robert Butler, Natasha Ria El-Scari, Brian Shawver and Gabriela Lemmons - as well as testimonials to the importance of reading and challenges of illiteracy from new adult readers.
