The rises Zora Series Brings Poetry and Experimental Art to the Rooftop Terrace

(Kansas City, Missouri) - Poetry duo Ezhno Martin and Jeanette Powers headline an evening of al fresco art and musical entertainment as part of the rises Zora series presented by the Charlotte Street Foundation on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. on the Rooftop Terrace of the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
The Garden Party performance series is a city-wide multi-venue visual and performing arts project involving dance, music, performance art, sound, actions or interventions, spoken word, and installations.
Organized by Charlotte Street Foundation Curator-In-Residence Jamilee Polson Lacy, the series takes place at outdoor sites throughout Kansas City between mid-May and mid-June 2013.
rises Zora (the word Zora is sometimes used in poetry to indicate the dawn or rising of the sun) allows Kansas City-based artists to illustrate and contribute to a project encompassing nearly every aspect of the "urban labyrinth."
In addition to Martin and Powers, the event at the Central Library offers performances by Kansas City-based composers, musicians, and sound artists.
The performances complement the rises Zora exhibition on display from May 10 - June 15, 2013, at Charlotte Street's la Esquina gallery, 1000 W. 25th St.
