Spanish Translations of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer & Reader's Guides Available at Kansas City Public Library
October 7, 2011
The Kansas City Public Library now has available Spanish versions of Reader's Guides for Mark Twain's classic novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the focus of a Big Read celebration coordinated by the Library and Kansas City Ballet.
The Reader's Guides offers readers an introduction to the novel, its characters, and its author - as well as a comparison between Tom Sawyer and Twain's companion novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Produced by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Spanish Reader's Guides complements more than 60 Spanish translation editions of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer available for checkout at any Library location.
This Big Read in Kansas City takes its inspiration from Kansas City Ballet's upcoming world premiere production of Tom Sawyer - A Ballet in Three Acts at the KauffmanCenter for the Performing Arts. This collaboration will connect readers with Twain's classic novel through a variety of free public events and activities aimed at inspiring a communitywide conversation, face to face and online.
The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. For more information about The Big Read in Kansas City, visit kcbigread.org.
