The Walt Bodine Show To Broadcast Live from the Plaza Branch

On Friday, April 24, at 10 a.m., the Walt Bodine Show, featuring the Kansas City radio icon, will broadcast live from the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Bodine, Walt Bodine Show guest host Gina Kauffman, and special guest host and noted local radio personality, Chuck Haddix, will discuss recently discovered interviews conducted by Bodine with notable figures such as Robert F. Kennedy and Werner von Braun. Additionally, the group will highlight programs that feature major events in Kansas City history, including the 1951 flood and the 1968 riots.

With more than 50 years in the media, Walt Bodine’s background includes staff announcer, program script writer, television reporter, and news anchor with stints as news reporter and news director for WDAF-TV and radio. For his work, Bodine has received numerous awards including the Kansas City Spirit Award in 1987, recognizing him as the “voice of the people” and “our community conscience.” More recently Bodine was the recipient of the Bishop John J. Sullivan Award for Communications.

This event is co-sponsored by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with KCUR-FM and the LaBudde Special Collections Department of Miller Nichols Library.
