The recent release of Mark Twain’s uncensored autobiography [2] has set the literary world ablaze. And that excitement was in the air a few weeks ago at the Central Library, when one of the editors of Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 1 [3], Robert H. Hirst, came to give a presentation before a crowd of nearly 450 “Twainiacs.”
As you’ll see in this short, behind-the-scenes video, the night was tailor-made for local lovers of Mark Twain. The First Lady of Missouri, Georganne Wheeler Nixon [4], arrived just in time to give a special introduction, and Twain devotees young and old were treated to a view deep inside the most personal work of Missouri’s greatest literary figure.
